Morland Wins Business–Education Partnership Award at the Powys Business Awards

We are thrilled to announce that Morland has been named the winner of the Business–Education Partnership Award at the 2025 Powys Business Awards.
This award recognises organisations that go above and beyond in supporting education, building meaningful partnerships that make a real difference to young people, schools, and the wider community. For Morland, it’s a proud moment that celebrates years of collaboration, innovation, and commitment to helping students in Mid Wales thrive.
Building Stronger Futures Together
Over the past three years, Morland has developed a structured and sustainable programme of partnerships with local schools and colleges, transforming what began as occasional engagement into a cornerstone of our community work.
Through long-term collaboration with education providers such as Welshpool High School, Newtown College, and The Game Change Project, we’ve worked to equip young people with practical skills, confidence, and real-world experience that connects classroom learning to career opportunities.
A key part of this mission is to show students the broad range of opportunities available right here in Mid Wales. From engineering and manufacturing to HR, marketing, logistics, and business administration, we want young people to see that rewarding, high-quality careers exist locally and that they don’t need to leave the area to achieve their ambitions.
Meaningful Impact
The award recognises the measurable and personal impact of these partnerships. Students who’ve taken part in our programmes return to school with stronger confidence, clearer aspirations, and a greater sense of what’s possible for their future.
Through apprenticeship development, we’ve also created genuine career pathways within Morland, with several former apprentices now in full-time roles contributing to innovation and growth across the business.
Our collaboration with The Game Change Project has extended these opportunities even further, helping to support young people who thrive in alternative education settings by offering creativity, mentoring, and structured workplace experience.
Community at the Heart of It
This achievement reflects the dedication of our whole team. From those who volunteer to host student placements, to colleagues supporting schools with donations and outreach, every department plays a part.
One of our most memorable projects, the Secret Santa initiative with Welshpool High School, saw Morland staff donate over 100 individually wrapped gifts to students identified by the school’s safeguarding team, a small gesture that had a huge emotional impact.
A Shared Success
Commenting on the award, Rachel Jones, Director of Corporate Administration, said:
“This recognition means a lot to everyone at Morland. It’s the result of genuine collaboration between our business, local schools, and charities who share the same goal of helping young people reach their potential. We’re proud to play our part in building stronger futures and showing students just how many opportunities exist here in Mid Wales.”
The award judges added: “It was inspiring to hear the impact and experience that Morland is providing to young learners in Powys. Hearing directly from the apprentices about their experience with Morland was a pleasure.”
Looking Ahead
Winning the Business–Education Partnership Award is not the end of the journey, it’s a milestone in an ongoing commitment. Morland will continue to expand its engagement with education providers, grow its apprenticeship offering, and develop new ways to connect learning with real opportunity.
By investing time, energy, and care into our partnerships, we’re not just shaping futures, we’re helping young people believe in them.
