Job Overview
The Junior Specification Technician supports the Senior Specification Technician/Manager by assisting with technical drawings, bills of materials, quotations, and compliance documentation for the UK door product range. The role is ideal for an individual looking to develop technical and regulatory knowledge within the door and construction industry.
Working closely with commercial, production, and technical teams, the Junior Specification Technician helps ensure specifications are accurate, compliant, and aligned with customer requirements, while developing skills to progress into a senior role.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Documentation
- Produce technical quotations using company specification and design tools
- Support the preparation of standard and project-specific door specifications
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and drawing records
Bills of Materials & Quotation Support
- Assist with the creation of bills of materials under guidance from senior team members
- Support the preparation of quotations, ensuring accuracy and consistency with drawings and BOMs
Compliance & Product Knowledge
- Develop an understanding of UK fire, security, and acoustic regulations for door sets
- Assist in checking specifications for compliance and flagging potential issues
- Support senior team members with NPD and NPI documentation where required
Commercial & Customer Support
- Provide technical support to the sales team, responding to basic technical queries
- Assist with customer information requests and specification clarifications
- Support senior colleagues during customer meetings and joint visits
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Liaise with production to understand product ranges and manufacturing processes
- Work with technical and commercial teams to ensure accurate information flow
Learning & Development
- Actively build technical knowledge of door systems, hardware, and regulations
- Support preparation of CPD materials and internal training content
- Progressively take ownership of simpler specifications as experience develops
This is a full time position working 40 hours a week and based at Buttington Cross Enterprise Park, Welshpool.
