Our story through the years

Our business began in 1967, and since then we’ve been growing, innovating and setting the standard across the leisure, marine and construction sectors.

  1. The start of something special

John Morris and his sons, David and Hugh, founded the wallcoverings division Newmor in Mid Wales, making PVC-coated wall coverings.

  2. Morland is born

Morland launched to laminate Newmor’s coverings onto timber panels for the booming caravan industry.

  3. Static caravans and importing from Asia

Taking a big step into the static caravan sector, we began importing plywood from the Far East and adding Newmor Signature decors, quickly earning a reputation for quality and style.

  4. Fresh Ideas

Introducing Italian and Spanish poplar wood to the UK market, we developed lightweight panels for caravans and motorhomes, giving our customers new materials and ideas.

  5. Cutting-edge manufacturing

Investing in the latest machinery, we opened a new factory producing wrapped profiles for the leisure and furniture industries.

  6. Our third factory

Expanding again with a new unit focused on turning panels and profiles into high-quality furniture components.

  7. Our fourth factory

We opened another unit to meet growing demand across the UK and Europe.

  8. Spotting new opportunities

Seeing opportunities in new markets, we expanded our range to include fire doors and doorsets, giving customers even more choice.

  9. All operations on one site

Bringing all operations together by expanding to 200,000 square feet of production space.

  10. Celebrating 50 years

Celebrating the Group’s 50th anniversary, we threw a memorable party at Powys Castle. It was a chance to thank the people who’ve shaped our success.

  11. A new chapter

James Morris, the founder’s grandson, first joined Morland in 2003 and steadily grew the business. In 2018, he became Group Managing Director, continuing the family legacy.

  12. Going digital

Launching our e-commerce shop helped us to better serve small businesses with a stocked range, shorter lead times and the convenience of shopping anytime, anywhere.

  13. A focus on Europe

Setting up Morland BV in response to Brexit makes it easier for our EU customers to continue to trade with us smoothly.

  14. Investing in technology

Investing in robotic-fed CNC technology to improve speed, efficiency and precision for our high-volume door set customers.

  15. 2000 doors and door sets per week

Upgrading our door-processing plant with new automated CNC and edgebanding machinery, plus automatic door and liner machining and loading, increased capacity. These changes helped ramp up production to 2000 doors and door sets per week to meet demand.

  16. Our largest investment yet

Installing a fully automated, high-volume panel laminating line, using cutting-edge technology to deliver the fastest turnaround for our leisure and construction customers.
