Morland Collaborates on Innovative Interior Design for European Mobile Chalet Project

Morland has been working closely with one of its European customers following the award of a major new contract. The end client operates an extensive network of campsites across Europe and was looking to introduce a fresh and distinctive interior design concept for a new range of mobile chalets.
With the customer looking for something different from traditional interior finishes, Morland’s Business Development Manager, Jean-Paul, worked closely with them during the design phase to explore a number of potential interior finish options.
One standout concept was a tongue and groove effect wallcovering, developed exclusively in collaboration with long-standing partner Newmor. The design offered a contemporary take on a classic interior style, combining the visual appeal of traditional tongue and groove panelling with the practical benefits of a factory-finished wallcovering.
The collaborative approach between Morland, Newmor and the customer was key to developing the concept. By bringing together Morland’s expertise in panel manufacturing and finishing with Newmor’s specialist wallcovering design and printing capabilities, the teams were able to develop a completely new finish specifically for the project.
The customer responded very positively to the initial concept. Following some refinements to the colour palette, they elected to proceed with prototype production for approval, with Morland supplying prototypes to allow the customer to see and assess the finished concept within the chalet environment.
As the tongue and groove effect was a completely new design, Newmor produced a digitally printed sample roll to enable the customer to fully assess the appearance and finish before moving into production. This provided an important opportunity to refine the design and ensure it met the customer’s expectations.
Once the design had been approved, a dedicated printing cylinder was used, ensuring consistency and quality across production.
Following successful approval, the tongue and groove design has now been rolled out across this chalet range. The only exception is the bedroom walls, which incorporate pastel red and green finishes, also supplied by Morland and complete with matching jointing strips to create a cohesive overall look.
The final result closely mimics the appearance of traditional tongue and groove panelling, delivering an authentic aesthetic without the complexity of installing individual panels. The wallcovering also offers significant design flexibility and can be produced in a wide range of colours, providing the opportunity to adapt the concept for future customer requirements.
The project demonstrates the value of close collaboration between customer, manufacturer and specialist supplier. By working together from the early design stages, Morland and Newmor were able to turn an initial design concept into a practical, scalable solution that is now being used across a major European mobile chalet programme.
Jean-Paul commented:
“It was great to work collaboratively with the customer and Newmor to develop something completely new for this project. The tongue and groove effect gives the chalets a really distinctive finish, while retaining the practicality and consistency required for volume production.”
