Morland Unveils Flagship ECO2 Panel Line

Morland is proud to announce the launch of its flagship ECO2 panel line, representing a major step forward in the company’s commitment to automation, innovation, and manufacturing excellence.
The ECO2 line is a fully automated, roll-fed, high-speed lamination system featuring advanced edge-wrapping capabilities. This significant investment expands Morland’s manufacturing capacity and product flexibility, enabling the business to produce a wider range of decorative panel solutions to the highest standards of quality, consistency, and efficiency.
The new line is capable of processing a wide variety of substrates, including plasterboard, plywood, MDF, and particleboard, while applying microlaminate, PVC, and paper-backed vinyl decors in high volumes. It also provides Morland with the ability to laminate panels from 2mm to over 44mm thick, opening up exciting new opportunities for product development and market growth.
Advanced Technology, Greater Flexibility
The ECO2 line has been introduced to support growing demand for higher-speed production, improved efficiency, and increased product flexibility across multiple sectors.
Compared to traditional manually fed lamination processes, the highly automated system delivers significant improvements in productivity, consistency, and operational performance. By reducing manual handling and automating key stages of production, the ECO2 line enables continuous high-speed operation while minimising the potential for human error.
The investment also introduces advanced edge-wrapping capabilities, allowing Morland to manufacture wrapped-edge panels and internally laminated doors. This capability enhances the company’s product offering and provides customers with attractive, durable, and high-quality finished solutions that were previously unavailable or not commercially viable.
The ECO2 line will also play a key role in the production of Morland’s stocked lightweight furniture plywood range. Increased manufacturing capacity will allow the business to hold greater stock volumes while improving replenishment lead times, ensuring enhanced product availability and service levels for customers.
A Strategic Investment Years in the Making
The ECO2 project has been in development for over three years and began with a clear objective: to respond to growing customer demand for wrapped-edge panels.
Through discussions with customers operating within the off-site construction sector, Morland identified an opportunity to offer a product that delivered improved durability, enhanced aesthetics, and a cleaner finished appearance.
As planning progressed, the project evolved into something far more ambitious. Rather than investing in a solution focused on a single product type, Morland worked closely with machine suppliers and automation specialists to develop a versatile manufacturing platform capable of processing multiple substrates, decorative finishes, and panel thicknesses.
Extensive collaboration between Morland, automation specialists, and machine manufacturers helped create a solution capable of delivering significant improvements in productivity, safety, flexibility, and product capability. The result is a future-proof manufacturing platform that not only meets today’s customer requirements but also provides the foundation for future innovation and growth.
This investment reflects Morland’s long-term strategy to continue modernising its manufacturing operations while strengthening its position as a leading supplier of innovative interior solutions across the leisure, construction and marine sectors.
Investing in People and Expertise
The ECO2 line is not only an investment in technology; it is also an investment in people.
Employees across the business have had the opportunity to develop new skills through training on advanced automated machinery and production systems. During visits to the machine manufacturer, Morland’s experienced laminating team worked closely with suppliers, sharing practical knowledge and operational insights that helped optimise the performance and efficiency of the new line.
Morland’s engineering team also played a critical role throughout the project, supporting site preparation, installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement activities. Their expertise and understanding of the business’s manufacturing operations were instrumental in ensuring the successful implementation of the line.
The project has brought together teams from Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Production, creating a collaborative approach that has strengthened internal knowledge and capability while supporting the successful delivery of one of the most significant investments in Morland’s recent history.
Delivering Greater Value to Customers
For customers, the ECO2 line means greater choice, improved product availability, shorter lead times, and access to innovative decorative panel solutions.
The combination of advanced automation, high-volume production capability, and enhanced manufacturing flexibility allows Morland to respond more quickly to customer requirements while maintaining the high-quality standards for which the company is known.
By combining factory-controlled precision with a high degree of customisation, Morland can continue to provide attractive, cost-effective, and accurate solutions that help customers differentiate themselves within competitive markets.
Supporting Future Growth and Innovation
At Morland, we never stand still. Investing in the ECO2 line forms part of our wider long-term strategy to continue improving efficiency, quality, innovation, and manufacturing capability across the business.
The new line complements Morland’s existing advanced manufacturing facilities and creates a scalable platform capable of supporting future product development, market expansion, and continued operational improvement.
“In the current UK manufacturing climate, where rising costs, skills shortages, and global competition continue to challenge the industry, investing in advanced automation ensures we remain competitive, resilient, and ready for future growth while continuing to deliver the high standards our customers expect.”
Robin Hawkins, Operations Director
The ECO2 line represents far more than a new piece of equipment. It is a transformational investment in technology, people, and capability that strengthens Morland’s position as one of the UK’s leading decorative panel manufacturers. By combining advanced automation with decades of laminating expertise, Morland has created a platform that will support innovation, growth, and customer success for many years to come.
