Reflecting on 2025: A Year of Progress, Investment and Strategic Focus

As 2025 comes to an end, the senior management team would like to reflect on a year marked by significant progress, thoughtful investment, and a continued commitment to strengthening Morland for the future. Despite a challenging external landscape, with volatile demand, cost pressures, economic uncertainty and resource constraints, our teams have shown remarkable resilience and professionalism, ensuring that we continue to deliver for our customers while laying strong foundations for the years ahead.

Strengthening Operations and Laying the Groundwork for Growth

A major priority this year was to refine and expand our operational capabilities, to support both current and future demand.

At one of our production facilities, we undertook a comprehensive value stream mapping project, and at another, a complete factory re-layout, improving efficiency whilst creating space for new production technologies. We also invested in a new moulding line, enabling us to profile wider panels more efficiently and enhance the consistency of our output.

Most significantly, we made a major step forward with the introduction of our ECO2 fully automated roll-fed production line. With commissioning and sign-off expected mid-January, progress is well underway, and we are excited to see the full benefits of this investment realised during 2026, particularly in terms of increased capacity, improved consistency, and expanded production capability.

These developments reflect our long-term strategy: to build a robust, efficient, and scalable manufacturing platform that supports both our customers’ needs and our growth ambitions.

Commitment to Quality, Assurance and Safety

The addition of ISO 45001 accreditation to our ISO 9001, this year also saw the further reinforcement of our safety and quality management systems.

Together, these standards reinforce our commitment to excellence, safety, and continuous improvement across all areas of the business.

On the technical side, we continued work to prepare our products for the new European fire-safety standards, ensuring our doorsets are properly tested, certified, and compliant to perform safely as the industry moves away from older BS standards. In the leisure market, the shift toward EN testing has also enabled us to apply our fire-testing expertise to help customers achieve safer, more consistent products.

Our People: Developing Skills, Celebrating Success

Investing in our people remains central to our long-term vision.

  • Our apprentices, Dan, Nikki, Niamh, Honey and Holly, continued to grow in confidence and capability, with plans already forming for their next steps in 2026.
  • We were delighted to see Nikki Wellsford shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year at the Make UK Regional Finals.
  • Lisa Andrew completed her Business Management degree with First-Class Honours and, alongside Shane Evans, successfully completed ILM Level 3 Leadership and Management qualifications.

Beyond professional development, our teams also demonstrated a strong sense of community and social responsibility. Employees took part in fundraising activities for Macmillan Cancer Support, including a Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge and a bake sale, raising funds for an important cause while strengthening team spirit.

These achievements reflect a culture that values development, ambition, teamwork, and giving back.

Recognition and Achievement

Morland’s commitment to innovation, development and collaboration was recognised through several external accolades this year:

  • Winner: Business–Education Partnership Award at the Powys Business Awards
  • Shortlisted: Innovation Award and Manufacturing Matters Award at Make UK

These achievements underscore the strength of our strategy and the passion of the people behind it.

Supply Chain Resilience and Adaptability

Reflecting on the year, Jason Hughes, Supply Chain Director, shared the following perspective:

“It’s not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one that is most adaptable to change.”

With ongoing economic uncertainty and geopolitical tensions impacting day-to-day operations, 2025 has been a year focused on managing risk and building supply chain resilience. While 2024 was defined by disruption, 2025 has been about strengthening foundations and preparing for the future.

Strengthening Our Brand and Vision

2025 also marked an important step forward in how Morland presents itself to the world.

Our brand refresh and newly updated corporate website represent more than a visual change, they reflect a clear and confident understanding of who we are, what we stand for, and how we support the markets we serve. This renewed identity communicates our commitment to innovation, reliability, and technical excellence, providing all stakeholders with a transparent and accurate view of our capabilities and direction as a modern manufacturing business.

Looking Ahead to 2026

All things considered, 2025 has been a demanding but transformative year. Our team has invested enormous effort into adapting and improving our facilities, refining our processes, strengthening our supply chain, and developing our people.

With ECO2 commissioning progressing, new capabilities coming online, a resilient operational platform, and a clearer brand identity guiding us, we are confident in our direction for the year ahead.

Looking ahead, key themes dominating our markets will include sustainability and compliance. There will also be a strong emphasis on cross-functional collaboration—internally, and with our customers and supply chain partners. It is through this collaborative approach that we believe Morland will continue to achieve competitive advantage through innovation, efficiency, and strategic thinking.

The senior management team would like to thank every member of the Morland community for their dedication, resilience, and hard work throughout 2025. We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing our journey of innovation and growth in 2026.
